- Born in Yerington, Nevada in 1953, I was raised in a meager household with three siblings.
- In 1973, I enlisted in the U.S. Army and served a tour of duty in Southeast Asia. It was through this experience that I learned that people are basically the same, regardless of what part of the world we live in or what social class we come from. The difference lies within us and how we choose to interact with others.
- Upon being honorably discharged, I pursued the construction trade and obtained a license in general contracting by 1979 - constructing office buildings, track homes and custom homes throughout Northern Nevada. I also had a small farm, raising alfalfa and a small herd of cattle during this same time
- It is through these life experiences that I came to understand the concerns and problems that face us all, especially the middle class working person, and it is an understanding that has never left me.
- In 1987, I returned to school to pursue a lifelong goal of obtaining a law degree. I applied for grants and loans to assist me with tuition. I worked nights and weekends as a bartender to supplement my living expenses and I am still paying off those school loans.
- I am a single father of an eight years old daughter and have raised her alone for the past seven years. She has taught me patience in times of frustration, understanding in times of confusion and forgiveness in times of blame.
- During my practice of law I consistently maintained that if I could not help the people that came to me for a consultation, I would not charge or expect a fee.
- For the past 11 ½ years in both my private practice and as a criminal defense attorney, I have represented the best interests of my clients, from speeding tickets to murder. Regardless of the underlying reason, everyone deserves fair representation and it should not be a factor in the quality of counsel. I ensured that the Constitutional rights of all my clients were upheld, regardless of the crime(s) charged.
